A Whole New World

"I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide? "
Aladdin

Once we arrive at our resort, it becomes crystal clear that we are in a whole new world. Staying on property at a Disney Resort creates a total immersion into Walt Disney World. Each resort is heavily themed to create another story experience to enjoy. We normally stay in Ft Wilderness in a cabin. They are absolutely beautiful and were suited our family at the time. This last year, we took our three year old granddaughter for the first time and decided she needed the 'royal' treatment. Where else but the Royal Rooms at Port Orleans Riverside would do for our little princess. It is a beautiful resort and we highly recommend it. This year we are going to try Port Orleans French Quarter. It is the smallest resort on property and quite lovely. These are all considered 'moderate' resorts.  I've been hesitant to try value resorts because of the number of people that stay in the resorts in comparison with the number of busses to the parks, noise and crowds at the food court and pool.  Deluxe resorts are lovely but expensive. Because we are in the parks for most of our visit it doesn't seem worth spending the extra. We have considered the Disney Vacation Club but haven't purchased at this point. For now, we'll continue with moderate resorts.

Things to consider when choosing a resort:
Number of people in the party
Amenities you want or need
Noise level
Number of rooms in the resort
Food court and restaurant
Pools
Price

Disney Dreaming

"A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep"

Cinderella

Every Disney dream vacation begins with ordering a few things to get the creative planning juices flowing.

First is the FREE planning video offered by Disney. It's so much fun to receive in the mail and makes planning easier.  We watch it as a family, take note of what each other is excited about seeing and doing. Another fun item is the FREE customized park maps. These are great souvenirs that can be framed for home decor as well as useful for trip planning.

Next is a new Passporter. This is an exceptional book that not only helps me in the planning process, but also in organizing notes and paperwork for our trip. All important documents and phone numbers are in one spot making for convenience and safety. Everyone on our trip  knows to look in the Passporter if they need something. When we get home from our trip, it becomes an instant scrapbook that will help  with future travel planning as well as a great keepsake full of memories. Be sure and sign up for the FREE Passporters Club on their website to receive 35% off your order.

Just a Dream Away

"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away"

Those words were written by the Sherman Brothers as the theme song for the Carousel of Progress exhibit, which was displayed at the 1964 Worlds Fair. The first time I heard that tune was in 1967 during my first trip to Disneyland. Fast forward through several trips to Disneyland and many trips to Walt Disney World and my love for all things Disney continues. We hope to share with you how we plan a trip to the World and pass on a few tips and tricks we've learned along the way. For us,  planning is almost as fun as being there and makes our trip....just a dream away!
